TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes
What are the ‘dimensions of competency’?
The dimensions of competency describe the four conditions that must be met in order for someone to demonstrate their ability to perform a new skill. They are:
1. Task skills—how can candidates perform the task for which they are being assessed?
2. Task management skills—how do candidates manage the process of carrying out the task in a logical and safe manner?
3. Contingency management skills—do candidates demonstrate an ability to complete the task when contingencies arise?
4. Job role/environment skills—has the assessment process allowed evidence to be gathered in different contexts? Have candidates demonstrated their skill and knowledge over time and in different situations?
